Thanks to Matt Lewis from Austrade who organised this amazing opportunity for Edwards Wines to be featured at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. The Festival de Cannes has remained faithful to its founding purpose: to draw attention to and raise the profile of films with the aim of contributing towards the development of cinema, boosting the film industry worldwide and celebrating cinema at an international level.
Delegates from five local wineries were invited to showcase their best wines to international producers, directors and film audiences at the screening of Drift.
Directed by Morgan O'Neil and Ben Nott, Drift is set in the 1970's and was inspired by the true life story of brothers of Andy and Jimmy Kelly - played by Myles Pollard and Xavier Samuel. Also starring Sam Worthington who plays JB.
Filmed locally in the South West, at Margaret River, Gracetown, Augusta, and Nannup giving lots of locals the opportunity to audition for small parts or as extras; including Christo (who narrowly missed out on playing a surfing coach due to 'other obligations') - a few minutes of fame and some great memories.
Due to be released to cinemas soon, more information can be found on the Drift Website
